I'm thinking I should make this a thread.  She-who-must-be-obeyed and I are heading to New Zealand soon.  Hopefully we'll get a loaner bike to tour around on.  I've been dropping MC mag's name like the cheap bastard I am.

If no bike then we'll walk around, maybe buy a bike.  Shooting for a month over there.  I'll post stuff here when I bump
Into wi-fi.  Maybe some cell-phone photos too.

Awesome, have a great trip. Over the years, I've shipped quite a few vintage parts to both places. They seem to be easy to get along with, good people. Looking forward to reading and seeing what you experience. Travel safe!

Both Islands.  We'll be there a month.  Copy-paste above for the Burt Munro fest.  Recently I met some Kiwis in Oatman, they raved about this event.

Dang Joe, they issued YOU a passport? Uh Oh, there goes years of cabinet department creation and the huge complex called Homeland Security being erected on the site of the old ST Elizabeth's hospital for the insane in Washington DC. All for naught if they let this one "slip through the cracks"!

Seriously though, that's a cool trip that you and your sweetheart have planned. I have a friend who's brother lives in NZ and other than telling you to plan that everything will be VERY, VERY expensive, have a blast because the pics I've seen are truly breathtaking.

I am happy that you get to ride around the world while we slave to feed the system....and you'll be happy to hear that I exchanged masters so I can contribute more to the kitty these days! Yup, took a new job and you'll never guess what I did with my first paycheck, a whopping TWO day paycheck.....why I bought a 75 H1 kawasaki triple of course! I pick it up this coming Saturday, while you'll be at the travel agent's office planning your fantastic trip.

Don't forget to take the good camera.....you might not get the ride for free but you can certainly make a buck with your story when you get back!!

Have fun and good luck on your trip Joe!!

I'm going to post stuff on facebook as it's much easier.  Less double post.

Lucky dog! Hope you enjoyed the plane ride and you're having a great time. You're smart to spend so much time there. It's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure especially if you're doing it on your dime. Everyone I've ever met that was there said it's some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. Try the brown trout fishing or the hunting. It's said to be the best in the world. Motorcycling on an island isn't the most adventuresome activity unless you're on a good dual sport, but NZ has at least one excellent motorcycle tour operator so maybe you'll get lucky and snag a free ride. Good luck!

It's a pretty big couple islands.  I'm hoping to score a Victory touring bike for the ride.  Plenty of room for my wife's shoes.  We'll start in Auckland and work our way south.  I'm on Kiwibiker forum as jjgres.  Those guys are cool as hell, offering places to stay- one guy offered to bring an extra tent for the Burt Munro Challenge.

People are pretty wonderful the world over.  Most of the stuff on the news/internet is not representative of reality.
