Just got the June 2013 issue in the mail and read Ari's comparo of the KLR, Terra 650, and KTM 690R.  Pretty good article, except for one rather glaring factual error.  I've owned a 690E since June 2008 and there's no way it is an under 50 HP bike and the 2013 690 is a full 690 cc and even stronger.  Ari said he preferred riding the 690 using the soft map.  My guess is he left it there when the dyno runs were done.  The manual says the soft map reduces maximum HP to 70% of the normal or hard maps.  Do the math and divide 48.9 by 0.7 to get a more realistic figure for the 690 HP.

Cheers

D-jack.  Maybe not, 50 RWHP from a four stroke single is doing pretty good.
