My name is Matt Birch and six years ago on 9/11/03 my son Matthew was killed by a driver not aware of my son riding his bike and pulled out in front of him. Matthew died 9/18/03 from his injuries. Ever since his death when I am driving on the roads and see, hear, or notice any biker on the road (AWARENESS) I immediately slow down give the biker room, lots of room, and hope that he makes his destinastion safely. Would it not be great if all motorist were as AWARE of bikers like me. I am creating a community project in honor of my son (and his passion to ride) called "Matthew's Moment" to bring awareness to motorist to make the roadways a safer place for bikers to ride. I looking for support and ideas from the motorcyclist community. I am not a biker but sure loved one and find most bikers great people. We could possibly get support for laws to give motorcyclist the same status as pedestrians the AWARENESS for bikers would be certainly increased.
