I was thinking about stuff I'd like to read about, and figured I pass my ever-evolving list on. I hope others might add to it as well.
In no particular order......
Maintenance cost comparisons, use the published flat rate times and current maintenance parts prices to estimate the maintance costs over, say, 40,000 miles. This used to be done, I enjoyed reading about it them, still would.
Bike build ups - there is some of this going on, but it would be nice to see longer term builds, from the turbo on the race replica/standard to the motocrosser, from the touring bike to the scooter. And yes, maybe a VTwin build up - prep a Star and a Harley and take 'em to the track for an old school drag strip "schoolin'" The VTwins are simple enough to do some case splitters, guts, show us the guts and wake 'em up!
Old road tests, drag up some of the vintage stuff, maybe let Mitch do it for you guys - and toss in a couple comparisons, the 1980 GS1100E and the BKing!
Real readers ride, more than currently given. Not just the fancy ones, the real ones, ones that are really ridden and maybe a blurb on the rider as well. Make it real.
More, there has got to be more to make what many would consider to be the perfect magazine -
Those advertisers, you know many of them could provide some really cool stuff, a perk to them for advertising, a perk for us with whatever knowledge they share - For example, ask a vendor if they would want to modify a bike using their accessories as an article. I'm sure plenty of people would like to see the wide range of Power Commander accessories installed and then evaluated.
Motorcyclist is the only game left on the block, time to rise to occassion!

Motorcyclist is the only game left on the block for full realm, we love 'em all coverage -
MotoRetro is in a class all it's own.
MotoRetro, man, when my first issue arrived, what a class magazine.
Sure seemed like "another" magazine tried really hard to upgrade it's appearance in an effort to keep up with the Boehms.....

I was impressed with the first MRI issue. The vintage deal should work out well. Seems like everyone I know likes old strokers and is reliving their childhood.

We sure seem to be seeing more and more interest in the "vintage" Japanese machines around here too.
And not all are pristine restorations, many are mild customs with one foot firmly in the past, with another in the here and now -
Here is one local example of a KZ1000 with it's owner/builder

And he's also a two-stroke fan -

The machine from the Big Four produced in the seventies and early to mid eighties are generating a lot of interest, and it's about time they got the respect they have earned.

I'm in the process of flogging my 1971 RT1 360 on the trans America trail. There is a thread on advrider -2009 vintage TAT ride- the actual riding starts on page 5. I'd post a link but typing on this phone blows.

Takes a lot of something to take an old RT1 on an adventure like that!
Looking forward to hearing more about that, Joe.
