Jack Lewis'  'classic rock' does exactly that.  Analogies?, that guy's gottem!, and their use in placing the author in time, skill level and demeanor was at once exquisite and hilarious.  And all accomplished with no f'ing profanity (or inanity for that matter!).  There aint a cycle savvy 'over 40 type' out there that cant relate to the spectrum of emotions to be found in our local moto-showrooms these days; crikey, a hundred and sixty horsepower you say??!!  And to have this all so colorfully painted for us by an artist that clever and wordwise was some fine a** journalism and a gut-laughing pleasure.
I mean the whole issue was extra tasty but Jack was the pukka sauce on the grilled fish taco.
I do have one bone Jack; you could actually TURN a GS1100E, it was it's younger flakier sibling, the spaghetti-framed GS1150 that was the iconic torquemeister of the era.
