I'm new to the motorcycle world and am looking to purchase a bike within the next year. Nothing feels cooler than being on a Harley, but man do those Victory's ride nice.
Saw recently that Sonny Barger has made the switch from Harley to Victory. Wondering if Victory is the real deal vs. Harley being all about image these days?
Thanks for your help with this.

Victory is certainly the "real deal"--a legitimately well-made, functional, high-quality American motorcycle. And don't be so quick to dismiss Harley-Davidson--their bikes are better than ever, both in terms of performance and reliability. Compare both closely, and no matter which you choose, you'll likely be satisfied. In our experience, the comparable Victory machines quite often offer better performance and almost always are a better value. But they don't carry the same prestige as the Harley brand, which is more than worth the premium for some. What models are you looking at?

Get a hog. The Victorys seem a little too ness-y, too store-bought-chopperesque. The clunky looks of a Harley wears on me better.
Plus you won't have to put up with the snowmobile jokes.
