I ride a 71 Honda CB350 to work, any day the sun is out. The roads are two lane state highways, 55 mph.
I saw a bunch of bikes approaching from the rear, so I took it up to 60. Still gaining, so I hugged the white line to give them room. About six passed on the left, no problem. One decides to pass on the right, on the shoulder. Scared the crap out of me.
If that is what it means to ride a Harley, I will stick with the vintage Honda.

His hog started missing so he pulled into to the breakdown lane, his usual spot. As he was fiddling with the loose carb it backfired, sending a surge of power through the bike. He was as surprised as you were.

What is really funny is that before I found this bike, I discussed my wish to put a vintage bike on the road with a gentleman on a full dress Harley. His advice to me was, "Do not buy an old Harley, get a Honda". So I did.

There are about 700,000 Harley-Davidsons sold every year. What this means is there are every type of personality owning and riding Harleys. You happened upon a jerk (or they happened upon you in this case).
In my 35 years of riding I have had impolite encounters with owner/riders from all sorts of brands. Ducs, Beemers, Asian cruisers, American cruisers. What I have learned is that it is not the brand, it's the rider. Chuck Yeager (WWII fighter ace, first to break the sound barrier) is famous for saying "it's the man, not the machine". Apropos in this case.
There are millions of riders in the world, and some of them are of questionable character, ability, and judgment.
Shrug it off, and ride on.
Be safe, and have fun.

Harley does seem to have more than its fair share of a-holes.

The reason there is such a high percentage of arsehole Harley riders may be simple -
Imagine if you paid that much for a motorcycle, found out it was not as reliable as the other machines out there, for a lot less money.
Was not where near as quick or fast, it in fact was lethargic in comparison.
Normal maintenance and repair costs at the dealer are astronomical -
Basically, many are suffering extreme buyers remorse and are stuck with payments for up to 10 years -
Yeah, that is enough to make more than a few of them a little grouchie........
