I just put a rebuilt 72 750cc (now 840) engine into a 78 frame. Runs nicely, but if I hit the gas when doing around 3500+ RPM, the engine just revs & no increase in speed. If I take it easy, then no slippage at any RPM. As I indicated the engine was rebuilt, but had been sitting for 25+ years. My guess is that I will need to replace the clutch, but could replacing the clutch springs only with heavy duty springs be a solution? Thanks.....bill

Be sure to do the adjustment at the clutch cover on the engine -

Remove cover, loosen lock nut, turn screw until you feel it touch (stops) and then back it off 1/4 turn - then adjust cables accordingly.

I'm getting ready to bust into the clutch on my 1975 version, more than happy to document it, you may need plates or ????

Good luck, post up some pic's and let us know how it goes.
