The bike: 1988 Honda HawkGT, 3500miles
I am the original owner.  It's been in garage storage for probably close to 10 years.  When ridden it was very well maintained.  Oil changes every season, StaBil in the fuel tank, carbs drained.  The bike is so clean you could serve food off of it.  None of the fluids seem contaminated and look like new.  The rubber parts appear to be in excellent condition.  The bike was never ridden hard.

I'm no mechanic but I can read a service manual.  My questions are based on the safety of this bike.

Although the rubber seems to look good, is it?  The tires look great but they're 20 years old.  Are looks deceiving?

Can I trust 20 year old rubber brake lines and coolant lines?  Gaskets?

I'm looking upon this as a restoration project but I'm limited on funds.  That's the main reason I'm not running out to buy a bunch of replacement parts.  Plus, as I said I'm not a mechanic and have no real experience in bike work.  I don't know how to properly tune a carb or any of the other tasks necessary to keep a bike in top condition.

Any and all comments on how I should proceed to get this bike in safe rolling conditions are welcome.  Thanks.
