Does anyone know anything about these?

From all I've gathered, back in the seventies, Yamaha used these to try and market their Trials machines - ???

Thanks in advance!

Here is some information about these decals -

______________________________________________________

I collect & restore very early TY250A models here in Australia. I recently found the very first Yamaha TY250A ever sold out of Japan, #1, I was pretty happy when I found that one :-) I have an enormous collection of NOS parts and Yamaha memorabilia on the TY250A model, including many of Mick Andrews items from his collection when he retired.

The CAT decals were a promotional item by Yamaha in the US to try and sell more of the TY250A models when they were released, as they initially were not very popular. They retailed at $942 when new, now I sell a fully restored one from $6000, how their popularity has changed, especially here in Australia & New Zealand..

thanks Col

It's pretty dim, but I remember an magazine advert with an old hillbilly-type guy describing the Yamaha trials bike coming over some rough terrain.  He didn't know what it was-never seen anything like it.

Lots of gee whiz, shucks stuff, then he says it must have been a cat.  Photo of him pointing at the spot he saw the bike/cat?

The spot he points to is like a sheer cliff.  A dotted line traced the path taken. The cat/tire logo was on there.

If you ever get a chance to see a trials competition,go.  The bikes go through stuff you cannot crawl over on your hands and knees.
