I have a 2004 r6.  I am having some trouble with the front brakes.  I bought the bike off ebay and it had been in an end over end tumble.  I fixed all the broken parts on the bike and got it running again but the front brakes were not working.  I bought a set of calipers off ebay with steel braided lines, and installed them.  The lever and master look ok with just some slight rash.  When I attempted to bleed the brakes it seemed to me not much fluid was being pushed through the lines.  I would close the bleeder pump the lever and hold it down, then open the bleeder.  Some fluid would come out with some bubbles, then I let go of the brake lever and open and closed it with the bleeder open.  Almost no fluid would come out but I could here air.  I repeated these steps about 10 times with similar results.  Is my master shot, am I doing somthing else wrong?  How can I tell if the master is shot?  What else should I be looking for?

Why would you pump the lever with the bleeder open? You are sucking air into the caliper. Close the bleeder before you let the lever release.
