I went through the saftey coarse beginning of September '08, purchased a bike 2 weeks later and probably have put on about 1000 miles since i had to store it away for the winter.
my family all owns bikes and are planning a trip to trailer our bikes down to florida stop in or around the orlando area of florida and ride our motorcycles through the keys. since i'm a beginner is this something that i should consider only if i have more riding time under my belt?

In my opinion you have to do what you are comfortable with and how the others you are with are and they understand your inexperience. It can be a good experience for you. You just have to stay in your comfort level and do not let any one push you out of that. Hope you have a safe trip and enjoy it. I have never been there before.

Ask yourself this- "Is there any difference riding through the Keys than putting a few hundred miles on your bike/self locally?"
I didn't think so.
Do it now, I command you!

Not really. Just behave yourself and stay within your comfort limits.
I go for a lot of rides with lots of people but that doesn't mean that i have to keep up with them.

The roads in Florida are straight and flat for the most part, so you should not have any problem. Like it was posted before - know your limits and don't push them.
Have a great ride!!!
