I've been bugging my local Barnes and Noble and Borders stores for a month about Motorcyclist Retro. Today the Borders in Greenfield, WI actually had it on the shelf. A quick lunch hour jaunt and I have the extremely cool Premier Issue in my hands. You guys have done a wonderful job. The articles on Brad Lackey, the Yamaha Mini Enduro, and the Yamaha RD 350/400 are themselves worth the cost of the magazine. Keep up the great work, produce more issues, and let us subscribe!

Still looking for it in Southern California. I'm riding my 1982 CB900F 480 miles a week to work, and playing on the weekends in the mountains. Hope it gets here soon...............

The last thing we need is another classic-bike rag full of Nortons, Triumphs and Guzzis. The Classic Japanese Motorcycle needs a dedicated publication here in the States. I'm aware of only one in the U.K., Motorcycle Mechanic. It occasionally shows up at Borders. I can't wait to get ahold of my copy of Retro and read about my first bike, the RD400. Speaking of which, an RD as a first bike was NOT a good idea! Kind of like a GSXR1000 as a beginner bike today.

Guys...any day now in book stores...any day.

Thanks for your positive comments!

MotoJoe, there is stuff on RD's...not a huge feature but its in there!  I have an H2 and used to have an RZ350.

Cheers, Marty

Hey Hacksaw, what do bonnevilles, commandos, and all the other Brit ikes have in common, Z1's H2's Cb750's have long since passed them up in value and general interest. Keep Hackin' away though, I like a couple of brit bikes

I just went to a Barnes and Nobles today (2 hours from my house) while visiting my grandma.  They never heard of the mag and said they didn't have it on record.  I really want this magazine...it seems like a scavenger hunt to get it.  I know there's alot to making a mag, but Motorcyclist should offer to sell it on their website.  I'm goint to start calling around, the closest B&N is over an hour away.  I hope they will ship to me.  Motorcyclist...if your listening, please offer to sell it.  Thanks for making it...I want one!!  No, wait...I want 2!  My Dad wants one too.

I agree with you Travis, it should be available via the website for those of us that are not in close proximity to a bookstore/newstand that will carry this magazine.

I've been looking for this magazine a B&N and BaM weekly since the first week of April.  Hopefully I'll find it today.

The digital edition is a GREAT idea.  Ever since I subscribed to Windingroad.com I've been sold on digital magazines.  Will Motorcyclist be available in a digital format too?

I've been reading Motorcyclist since 1996 but recently had to trash all my old magazines when I moved.  I just don't have room for a library of old magazines though I do go back and read through them.  I've moved 4 times and have pared down the magazine library each time.  Motor Trend was first to go, then Cycle World, Sport Rider, Backpacker, Automobile, and finally Motorcyclist.  I still have Grassroots Motorsports and Bike.

I also went to BN today. No joy.
If you really want this new mag to take off then people have to to have the option to buy it.
Heck offer it up for subscription and I will take one year of it right now.
If you guys really are going to do this I have some suggestions.
1. Lots of howto. People with old bikes are going to be into restoring or at least working on them.
2. Good ads. No male enhancements please but parts supplyers, platers, power coaters, painters, engine shops.
3. Yes we can have Harleys. The XLCR was way cool.

WAITING!!! SoCAL resident. I have been going to B&N and others every few days since mid april. No satisfaction yet. I have bought several single issues of other classic bike mags cuz I love classics (and most moderns) but this is the one I have been waiting for with much anticipation. My first bike, a 1972 Yamaha RD250, then a '72 Kawi H2 750 owned for seventeen years (never should've sold it), now own a '77 KZ1000, and a modified '80 KZ1000 (after many sport bikes and a sport tourer, still own and ride an '02 gsxr750 at the track) I will subscribe to the magazine as soon as that option becomes available too.

I stopped by the Borders today in Houston and it was there so I've got it now.  The space on the rack was full so I'm guessing they had just put them out.
After paging through the issue I'm very pleased to find so much coverage of dirt bikes and racing.  Thanks for a great new magazine.
