Looking for a fast, low-maintenence commuter bike

As the subject says, I'm in the market for a new commuter bike. I ride about 110 miles around trip from home to work everyday. 45 miles are on I-24 into Nashville, TN and the other 10 miles are on a wonderful country back-road I use to get to I-24. My current ride is a 1997 YZF1000RJ which is simply a fabulous bike. Unfortunately there is no escaping the hands of time and even though the bike has only just over 24,K miles, it's time to look for something that might work better. Fuel injection, 6-speed box, a good warranty and service for when things break and a few other features I'm looking for. An increase in fuel economy wouldn't hurt as well as a bike that's easier on tires. I get about 8000 rear/12,000 front on Michelin Pilot Roads. Note that I put on about 30,000 miles per year so I think we can safely say the sub-750 rides aren't gonna hang. Note that I ride rain or shine and hot or cold. Temps range from 105F down to a windshield frosting 8F.

I currently have two contenders in the running. BMW's F800ST and the VFR800 Interceptor with the Beemer leading in terms of practicality.  

A sub 750 would do just fine. My Kawasaki KLR 650 commutes at 75 mph 6 days a week. But by the description of what you want for new ride I would suggest a Honda Civic. It would cost about the same or less as a large bike and get about the same or better mileage. It can carry more than a bike and is a lot more comfortable in 8 degree weather. I know its a car but that is what you are descibing. Only 24,000 miles on your FJ and its worn out? My '00 KLR went 33,000 miles and had lots left in it when I traded it on an '06 which went 21,000 before I traded it on an '08 which just turned 15,000 absolutely trouble free miles at 60+mpg. Only 24,000 out of a FJ? ... that's not good.
