Hello All,
For those of you who followed last year's 40th anniversary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the feature film about Malcolm Smith and JN Roberts reuniting to complete in the Baja 1000 40 years after winning the first Baja 1000, was just accepted to the Temecula Valley International Film Festival (wwwtviff.com). The festival, one of the premier film festivals in the US, runs from September 17 to September 21, and is held at the Tower Plaza Cinema Complex in Temecula, California.
The film will have two showings, Thursday, September 18, time TBD, and Saturday, September 20 at 5 PM. The trailer is on www.youtube.com, keywords "JN Roberts", or just go directly to "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYu-mw9Y3qc" to watch the trailer.
To draw attention to the film, the Racing For Life Offroad Team is hosting a Dual Sport Ride that Saturday starting at the Film Festival, looping up to Idyllwild, California for a barbecue lunch and live music, then returning to the Festival for the 5 PM showing of FULL CIRCLE. YOu are all welcome to join the Dual Sport Ride, open to the first 75 riders (2 wheel and 4 wheel okay). We just planned a great 100+ mile loop, 80% in the dirt, through the San Jacinto Mountains above Palm Springs. Event Registration starts at 6:30 AM at the Tower Plaza. We have all CDF clearances. At the end of thei ride, we will have a special trailer for the riders to clean up and change clothes. After the screening, there will be an after-screening party at Scarcellas, next door to the cineplex. GO to www.racingforlife.org to download an entry form and details on the Dual Srort Ride. Proceeds from the ride will benefit The Rider Down Foundation (www.riderdown.org). Proceeds from the sale of the FULL CIRCLE DVD benefit the El Oasis Children's Orphanage through the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundaiton.
More than 15,000 attend the festival each year, now in its 14th year. It is a "people's choice" award festival, so the more people we can get to attend the Sept 20th Saturday screening and vote for the film, the better chance we have of the film receiving recognition and honors. Very few of the films screened actually are made by film makers from the area. Pinned TV teamed with us last year to produce the film, coordinating production with 20+ camera crews down the Baja Peninsula.
So tell your friends and let's support our sport and these fine charities. Time to take over the festival!!!
