The ride report on the BMW in the Sept 08 issue says the drive sprocket set up is "a clever idea that completely eliminates chain torque"..????...That's either an outright lie or there is some kind of control/feedback linking engine power and rear suspension...so what is it, *** or some unecessary trick new fantastic fabulously EXPENSIVE gimmick? Its just a motorcycle, how can it be so EXPENSIVE???? HOW? Is it BMW's goal to ultimately sell only one motorcycle a year for $1 billion dollars ?

Yeah, the journalist who wrote the article doesn't sound like he knows what he is talking about. Certainly the sprocket being co-located allows the chain to be a constant tension, and would probably eliminate some chain torque.
Expensive? Don't know about that. In Australia I have paid my deposit on mine for an on road cost (registration, GST etc) for under $13K. This is within $500 of what I paid for for my (current ride) Wr450. The Cr450X is dearer and the KLX450 about the same. Not bad value considering the G450X has Ohlins, EFI and the only one to offer a 2 year unlimited KM warranty. The others at best offer only 3 months on parts only
Can't wait to pick mine up in a couple of weeks!

On the ADVrider forum posters are claiming dealers will be asking about $12,000 for the 450. That is an absolutely rediculous price for a 450. I don't care how good it is I refuse to pay that much for a 450. For those who are willing to pay that much for one tell your rich daddy I said howdy.

Looks like they're going out the door for $8700-$8900. That's right in line with the KTMs.

That is a ridiculous price for a 450.
