Hi Just purchased a 2008 Honda VTX1300S. The gear box has a distinctive 'clunck' between 1st and 2nd gears. Is this normal with these bikes. I thought Honda's were quite smooth in this department. Mark

Totally normal for that bike, no worries.
It will get better as the mile rack up, but it will always the there to a degree.
You'll get used to it.
Very good, reliable machines.
BE SURE TO HAVE THE 600 MILE SERVICE DONE MY A REPUTABLE SHOP - THE VALVES MUST BE CHECKED AND IT IS A PIA FOR THE UNSKILLED!
I think the service runs about $300.00 total, not a bad deal and it covers a lot.
And have it all done again at 8000 miles - 4000 is oil change only, plus a few checks.
You can buy the factory service manual and do it yourself in so inclined.
You will need to bend the end of your feeler guages and tie a string to them, as they can fall into the head -
Trust me on that one......
