How could HD NOT make this bike here?

I like Harleys. The oft imitated/never duplicated sound and look are great. But Harley hasn't made a bike that truly interested me since the XR1000 in 1982. No Sportster or cruiser ever got me going like that bike did.

Now they make a modern version and the sell it only to European weenies??!!

Hey Harley, I see your sales are off 18%, do you think that maybe you need to broaden your appeal a bit? The XR, with it's more conventional peg and riding position would be the perfect addition. Right in the middle of the standard HD and the Buell sport line.

Big missed opportunity guys. Shame on you.

The XR1200 is the ONLY Harley I would consider buying. I'm anti-Harley mostly due to the "lifestyle image" thing they promote. Plus their archaic tractor technology contributes nothing to performance riding. However, the XR1200, has snatched my curiosity and interest. I could actually see myself owning one of these....outlaw biker lifestyle be damned!

It is beyond me why H-D doesn't sell this race inspired bike in the USA. Unless it has something to do with the rights to the XR1200 name. See: http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com/2008/06/19/storz-performance-sells-xr-1200-trademark-rights-to-harley-davidson/

I'm glad that the XR1200 will not be sold here!
How can The Big Willy let an XR out of the shop WITHOUT XR pipes???
An XR is: the tank, the 'glass seat and the high-rise
two-on-the-side exhaust system.
What's next? Road Kings with across the frame inline fours?
Put the correct pipes on, paint the crankcases black - leave the jugs gray, lose the USD forks( no-one has ever styled the mudguard mountings well) and sell for $11,999 THEN bring it here.
