I recently have been having trouble with my 2003 yzf-r6. It has flat spots when accelerating, but only randomly, when the power comes on it still has power. Reminds me of when accelerator pumps used to go bad in auto carburators. Any one got any suggestions. Happened suddenly after filling up. Bad Gas? clogged fuel filter? Thanks

First two guesses are where I'd start. Drain your tank, check the fuel filter and lines, etc., especially if the problem just started up. Also, check your fuel pump--not shoking for a 3-4 yr old fuel pump to go. Had the bike been sitting up for awhile?

It has sit maybe for two weeks to three weeks because of cold weather.I looked at the parts breakdown on yamaha's web site but nothing was identified as a filter. could it possibly be in the tank on the fuel pump? Thanks for the reply.

It could be water droplets in the carbs getting caught in the needle seat or the main jet. Do you store the bike with the tank full? If not, condensation can form inside & work its way into the carbs, causing this to happen. Put 1/2 bottle of dry gas in & go for a nice LONG ride, then top it off with gas right before you go home. Also, a little Sta-bil added to the gas can't hurt.
