Safety Tips...

1. Wear the Safety Gear. Pretty obvious huh but I will admit to being guility of riding around in a T-shirt only.  I have since purchased one of the Mesh jackets (comfortable and cool). Inspired by watching accidents on YouTube.  I do this on occasion as a reality check.

2. The Friction Zone. Understanding how the clutch and throttle relate can keep you from dropping the bike and in full control at extremely low speeds.  Check out “Ride Like A Pro”.

3. Bikes without ABS tend to lock up during emergency braking and can start to slide out.  Simply releasing the brakes will put you back in control (release and re-brake technique). Find an empty lot and practice so that you understand how your bike reacts at different speeds and get used to the feel of emergency braking.

JUST FOR FUN
Go to YouTube and search for “Motofemina”. There are a series of short videos of new female riders getting lessons on BMW bikes.

BOOK
Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well.  Found this book at Barnes and Noble in the sports section (you can view before purchasing).  It's also available at Amazon.

Another great read is “Maiden Voyage”.  This is not a motorcycle book but I think you'll enjoy it. It’s about sailing and very inspirational.

Did you copy and paste this entry? I couldn't find anything of help unless I didn't know what a motorcycle was. Nice for baby steps I guess. The ride like a pro is a cop promotion. I don't consider cops pros, I think racers are pros. Cops just think they are about the law.
