Cypress, California - November 15, 2007 - Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to announce its 2008 Road Race Team today at its corporate headquarters in Cypress CA. Ben and Eric Bostrom, Jason DiSalvo, and Josh Herrin return to the Team this year with more determination and focus to win than ever.
Leading the assault in the preeminent AMA Superbike class on the YZF-R1 will once again be the duo of the charismatic Eric Bostrom and young upstart Jason DiSalvo, the latter just completing his first year in the premier class. Both riders were instrumental in the initial development of the “home grown” Superbike R1 last season and are motivated more than ever for success in 2008. With two podium finishes last season and continued development by the Yamaha Factory Racing crew, both riders are eager to return to action. “We’ve had the opportunity during the off season to test some of the World Superbike equipment from Yamaha Italy” said team manager Tom Halverson, “and we’re quite confident that this growing relationship coupled with a solid year under our belts, will give us the tools and expertise we’ll need for success.”
In the all important AMA Supersport Class, veteran Ben Bostrom will join 17 year old phenom Josh Herrin aboard the Graves Motorsport prepared YZF-R6. Herrin comes off a tremendous year with 2 podiums and a win at the final round in 2007 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “The all-new R6 is an absolute ripper” said Ben Bostrom, after his initial test session on the bike, “and I’m confident that between Josh and I, we can get the job done.”
The entire Team Yamaha will make its 2008 debut in both the Superbike and Supersport classes at the opening round at Daytona International Speedway in March.
