Beautiful piece of writing. I believe young Ari Henning made a connection with his father that he will never forget. So many guys struggle through life fearful of reaching out for that baton being passed to us. I can't help but think he made his dad proud. I'm still reeling from the thought of a 19,000 mile ride through the winter - on a middle-weight sport bike, no less. Why didn't he have doubts about making it? Because he trusted and believed in the advice his dad gave him. Who says youth is wasted on the young?
By the way, how many strings did you good folks at Motorcyclist have to pull to have that Laguna Seca gate left unlocked????
A few more articles like this one and few less from our self-absorbed Central American amigo, Mr. Walsh, and I'll guarantee stronger readership.

Ari is an awesome guy! I got the luxury of taking a weekend ride with him recently. What a down to Earth rider! I don't think he visited Motorcyclist until AFTER the ride? Maybe he can confirm this but I think that's the case.
