What's the Cost $$

Hey, I am looking at purchasing a sport bike but I have a few questions concerning the costs of it. What I would like to know is how much is it for insurance, (per month, or year), and what are the maintenance costs of owning one?

The insurance question is a very difficult one to answer, Rates can vary so much depending upon the type of bike, your age, drving record, whether or not you have a car insured by the same company, etc...  You almost need to narrow down your choice of bike and then call around to various insurance companies.

Maintenance too can vary quite a bit, for instance the Ninja 500 stock tires are like bricks, but can last forever if you dont abuse them. Some of the liter bikes will eat rears every 1000-2000 miles.  Figure an oil change at least every 3000 miles or 6 months, which if you do it yourself is just the cost of oil and filter.

Do you have any idea what kind of bike your interested in?  Also dont forget to add  the cost of gear, helmet, gloves, jacket, etc...  helmets can run $50 - 600+, gloves $35 -300, there is quite a lot of choices out there.
