Gee, guys, whne are you gonna start covering Ducati? Glad to hear Boehm was so enamored of the 1098 ---it seems like Ducati has left nothing for the haters to hate, and I can't wait to see/ride the S model come February. Being an avowed Duc-lover (I know, hard to believe based on my other posts!),I'm thrilled---Ducati has basically made the bike I'd make given the opportunity. It really is the more natural successor to the 916, and I'm afraid the 999 will become akin to the Porsche 928-fine vehicle, better in many ways than the 911(which it was intended to replace), but never quite lit the fires of enthusiasts. I foresee some great deals on used/leftover 999's, however. As for the Sport1000/Suxton comparo, well, it's like comparing Angelina Jolie to Bea Arthur in the aesthetic arena, or FloJo to,well, Bea Arthur in performance. Spot on about the forks, unfortunately --can't understand why they didn't just use the existing, adjustable forks from the S2R1000. That being said, once the fork springs are replaced (or you go nuts w/Ohlins a la the Paul Smart), it makes a great track tool (see Candian Thunderbike) and a much better-looking alternative to the current SuperSport. Unlike the Thruxturd, it only LOOKS vintage. Now maybe next month, you could REALLY get busy w/some Ducati coverage?

How dare you disparage Bea Aurthur! Even at her age, Bea could kick the butt of a few of the Motorcyclist staff.
And your getting a bit worked up over Ducati's new GSXR1000 copy arent you Sloth? The goombas over in Bologna have decided to sell out, rushing a red paint job onto illconceived designs and hurrying them into the American market. Your new 1098 is a tarted up floosy with a red dress. I have a mind to drive my ferrari out to that cornfield you live and slap you, nobody insults Bea Arthur and gets away with it.
Consider this your warning Duc-lover.

Save the trip, Roman Emperor --- I've been slapped around by Bea Arthur herself. In a cornfield. And I liked it.And who can't kick Boehm's butt, anyway?
I was amazed at the way Ducati re-configured the Gixxer's I-4 into a twin---those crazy Eye-talians!!! And the nerve, to copy the R1 twin can underseat exhaust and cat-eye styled headlights. Waitaminnit, those pieces were on another bike in the past. I'll give you,oh, 916 guesses to figure out which one. Ah, the short memories of the crack-addled.
Oh, and a Corvette is much faster and cheaper than your (non-existent) Ferrari. Why oh why spend the extra cash? Oh yeah, 'cause it's gorgeous and comes as close as a vehicle can to having a soul. And you don't see one on every corner. Although that's probably of no interest to the soulless.
AND....Bea Arthur is a smelly pirate hooker.

First, there is no such thing as "Japan, Inc," I know cause I work for one of the companies here in Tokyo. Second, saying things like "Japanese bikes and their ilk" as it did in the Ducati lovefest, betrays a really stupid mindset. Ilk?
Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki all have their own ideas on handling, power and style.
The Ducati is a retro back to the 998 days, cause the 999 looked like an Eveready flashlight from the front. It is five grand more, costs a *** to service at startling short intervals and will roast your nuts.
Sorry, but maybe you don't understand Japanese soul. I ***
