I am curious Charles Everitt, couldn't Motorcyclist magazine hook you up with the correct riding gear for your ride? I realize from your article that the traffic was incredible. However, I find it hard to believe that a seasoned veteran of motorcycling would be wearing the gear that you show in the picture and not drinking enough to compensate for the weather conditions. Do you realize that the heat combined with the wind at 90 to 100+ mph are what made you sick/dehydrated? I couldn't get past the fact that you could have purchased a white half helmet,a white long sleeve shirt, some sunscreen and used your travel trunk to put something to drink in, pulled over when you were thirsty or (every half hour) and kept hydrated, rather than risk your safety and the safety of others (just to keep your time schedule that you already screwed up because you didn't use common sense in the first place. You will probably tell me that your jacket and leather pants were for safety and I respect that, but really, your riding the White Whale after all!

I was wondering myself about Mr. Everitt's aforethought while riding the Wing across the USA in the middle of a brutally hot summer. If you don't feel right the last place you need to be is on a motorcycle gong 80 mph. If anything it was a reminder to us all to be aware of what our bodies are telling us. I do like the way minimitch put it.

Yes, this story is in the December issue. Give the mailman another couple of days. If you still don't have it, let me know.

roger the couple of days! i'll give the postman a couple more days to thumb through my issue! "he is so jealous" i'll just have to live on back issues till then, and i guess i will put the nasty letter to the postmaster on the back the burner.
