Hey, i just recently got my P's (Probationary Licence in Australia), which means i cant go bigger than 250, and im trying to decide on which bike to get. Ive never really riden a road bike before and dont know all that much about them, however i've riden motocross since i was 4, and have alot of experience on them. The decision im trying to make is between getting a second hand 2 stroke 250, say 2000 model Aprilia RS250 for example, or i can get a brand new 2006 model CB250F for a similar price, here. And yes i know this a chalk and cheese comparison.
Im leaning toward to the CB because of the appeal of it being a new bike, but worried about it being completely underpowered.
So how much power does one of these things have? Will the CB cofortably sit on about, say, 130 kph (80 mph) ?
Any help is MUCH apreciated.

You're right in the assumption that the CB250 is quite anemic. Someone more knowledgable than I may say differently, but 80 MPH is probably top speed downhill w/a tailwind. However, a new bike w/warranty is comforting, but not being able to pull away from a semi (lorry in OZ?)breathing down your neck is FAR from comforting. The RS250 is a scream to ride, not underpowered, and has razor-sharp handling. Maintenance can be a bit of an issue, however. Have the bike checked out by a mechanic or knowledgeable friend. As a further selling point, the Aprilia will make an AMAZING track bike after you move to a bigger streetbike, should that be something you're considering.
